The family behind Tilly Travels
We're Tilly's mum and dad, and she's the reason for all of this. We'd always liked getting away, but a holiday planned for two adults, or a group of friends, is a very different thing once you're doing it with a baby and then a toddler. It meant learning to research all over again, finding new destinations and new kinds of place to stay.
Travelling with young children is a different proposition for every family. Some carry on much as they did before, others would rather not travel at all, and plenty of us land somewhere in between, adjusting plans, making special arrangements or planning more carefully than we used to. Either way, we try to gather as much as we can here, so parents can make the right choices for their own family when they take little ones away.
It started with too much research
When our daughter was born and we started looking at holidays with her, the research meant trawling YouTube, blogs and hotel reviews for anything specific to travelling with a toddler. The information existed, but it was scattered across dozens of single-family blogs and general travel sites that treat children as an afterthought.
For one trip to Tenerife alone, roughly a month went into researching ten hotels before we chose one. That produced a first-hand review of the place we stayed, and a stack of research on the other nine that no one ever sees.
Most of that research never gets used again. Tilly Travels gathers it here instead, so other families don't have to start from scratch.

The photographs in our guides and reviews are of the specific place and always real, whether ours, a contributor's or official photography provided for our use. Elsewhere on the site we may use stock or generated imagery to set a scene or illustrate a point.
