Maldives: passport and entry requirements
The Maldives is unusual in needing only one month's validity on each passport after you arrive, and the tourist visa is free on the day. Before you fly there's a short online declaration to file for every traveller, whatever their age.
Your passport
The Maldives asks only that each passport is valid for at least one month after the day you arrive. That's a low bar next to most countries, so a passport with limited time left can still be fine, as long as that month runs past your arrival date.
Even so, check every passport when you book, since a child's runs out sooner than an adult's.
Getting in
British visitors are given a free 30-day visa when they arrive, so there's nothing to buy or apply for beforehand. It's issued at the airport to each traveller, babies and young children included.
What you do need to sort in advance is the IMUGA declaration, the Maldives' online traveller form, submitted in the four days before your flight lands. You complete it on the official immigration site, and it's free. There's one declaration per traveller.
Every child needs their own passport, from birth, valid for at least one month beyond arrival. Each one also needs their own travel declaration, filed before you fly, and their own visa on arrival.
