British Airways is moving its Fuerteventura flights from Gatwick to Heathrow for the winter, and adding direct flights from Gatwick to Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland over Christmas. Both changes are part of the winter schedule it set out on 26 October.
The Fuerteventura flights will run twice a week from Heathrow between mid-December and April. BA hasn’t given the exact date of the switch, so it’s worth families with a winter Fuerteventura booking, including February half-term or Easter, checking which London airport is on their ticket.
The Rovaniemi flights are run by BA Euroflyer, BA’s Gatwick airline, and go twice a week between 4 December and 4 January. Rovaniemi is the capital of Finnish Lapland and home to the Santa Claus Village, so the route gives families a direct BA option for a Christmas trip to see Father Christmas. It runs alongside BA’s existing Gatwick flights to Ivalo, further north in Lapland.
Palermo in Sicily also becomes a year-round BA route, so there are now winter flights for families thinking about an out-of-season trip. British Airways’ announcement lists the rest of the winter schedule.
We do our best to get this right. If something here looks wrong, tell us and we'll check it.
