Ryanair is bringing its bag drop deadline forward. From Tuesday 10 November 2026, bag drop at every airport it flies from will close 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time, instead of 40 minutes as now.

The change was first announced in April, and Ryanair issued a reminder on 27 October with the start date two weeks away. It says the extra 20 minutes is meant to give passengers with checked bags more time to get through security and passport control before boarding, particularly when airports are busy.

Families travelling with a hold bag are the ones affected. The 60 minutes is the point by which the bag must already be dropped, not the time to arrive at the airport, so any queue at the bag drop desk has to fit in before it. The new deadline applies to flights from 10 November, which includes Christmas trips and anything already booked for next year.

Passengers who check in online and travel with cabin bags only aren’t affected. Ryanair’s announcement has the details.

We do our best to get this right. If something here looks wrong, tell us and we'll check it.
