Disney Cruise Line has shown the first glimpse of three new ships that will be smaller than its recent Wish-class vessels. The unnamed class is expected to make its debut in 2029.
The easiest comparison is one Disney used at D23. Each ship will be bigger than Disney Wonder but smaller than Disney Wish. Two are expected in 2029, followed by a third in late 2030.
Plans published before D23 put each ship at around 3,000 guests. They will still be large cruise ships, but their size will sit between Disney’s two oldest ships and the much bigger vessels it has launched since 2022.
Smaller ships give Disney more options
Disney says the new size will give it more choice when planning future cruises and help the line reach people it has not served before. It has not announced any routes or home ports for the three ships.
They will join a fleet that is already spreading beyond Disney’s traditional American bases. Disney Adventure now sails from Singapore, while a separately operated Disney ship is due to begin year-round cruises from Japan in early 2029. Disney says its wider expansion will take the fleet from eight ships today to 13 by late 2030.
The teaser shows panoramic windows
The short D23 film showed a familiar Disney-style exterior with two funnels and a large section of glass across several decks. Attractions Magazine, reporting from the presentation, described panoramic windows on the lower decks that bring passengers visually closer to the sea.
Disney has not said what will sit behind the glass, so the panoramic windows are a design clue rather than a finished deck plan.
