Disneyland Paris has revealed a confrontation between Simba and Scar for its Lion King water ride, now under construction at Disney Adventure World. The resort also announced a new daytime parade for Disneyland Park in 2028.
The Lion King area is already under construction, but Disney hasn’t announced when it will open.
Scar will appear in the Lion King water ride
The Lion King attraction will retell Simba’s story from cub to king. Boats will travel through scenes with Simba, Timon, Pumbaa, Scar and other characters, using Audio-Animatronics figures, visual effects and music from the film.
New concept art shows Scar blocking Simba’s path during the final confrontation from the 1994 animated film. It will be the first Scar Audio-Animatronics figure built for a Disney attraction.
The ride will have three drops, including a 16-metre descent from Pride Rock. Disney has not announced a height requirement or explained how intense the other drops will feel.
The Lion King area is being built beside Adventure Bay, near World of Frozen. Work began in autumn 2025, the foundations are complete and the first building structures are rising.
Once finished, the area will cover more than 30,000 square metres. It will include the water ride, a restaurant, a shop and character appearances. Disney has also described how its designers are pruning and shaping European trees to resemble the flat-topped acacias seen in the film’s African setting.
There is no confirmed opening year. Specialist reports have discussed 2028 and 2029, but Disneyland Paris has not committed to either date. Families choosing 2028 holiday dates should not assume the Lion King attraction will be open.

Disneyland Park will get its first new daytime parade since Disney Stars on Parade began in 2017. Disneyland Paris hasn’t announced an opening month or said when the current parade will end.
