Magic Kingdom is closing two attractions this autumn, one after the other. The Walt Disney World Railroad will stop running from late September into late October, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is closed from early November. Disney has not posted a Parks Blog announcement for either change. The dates come from the park’s operational and My Disney Experience refurbishment calendars, as reported by several Disney parks news sites on 31 August 2026.

The railroad is closed from 28 September to 29 October
The Walt Disney World Railroad is closed from 28 September to 29 October 2026. The train starts running again on 30 October. The whole train is shut for those five weeks, not just one station.
The train has already been running a shortened shuttle since 7 July 2025. Official Disney wording on the Fantasyland railroad page still says the route skips Frontierland and only runs between Main Street station and Fantasyland station, to make way for Magic Kingdom’s large expansion. Visitors can use it as a short hop between those two areas. Disney expects the full loop back when that expansion is complete, without naming a date.
For about five weeks this autumn, that short hop is closed too. Disney has not said why. When the train starts running again on 30 October, it is still the Main Street to Fantasyland shuttle.
The railroad is useful with young children. There is no height requirement and families can take a pushchair. The Main Street to Fantasyland hop is a seated break rather than another walk across the park. With the train closed through late September and October, getting between Main Street and Fantasyland means walking or using other park transport. That applies on ordinary park days and on many Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party nights in the same window. The party season already runs on selected nights through to the end of October.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure closes from 2 November
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the Frontierland water ride that replaced Splash Mountain and opened on 28 June 2024, is closed from Monday 2 November 2026. The shop at the ride’s exit, Tiana’s Bayou General Store, closes the same day. This is the ride’s first long closure since it opened.
Disney has not listed a reopen date on the public attraction page. Some Disney parks news sites have reported an expected return sometime in December. Others say no reopen date is shown yet. Until Disney puts a return date on the page, families visiting Magic Kingdom in November, including over Thanksgiving week, should not count on riding it.
Water rides in Florida usually need stretches of downtime for routine maintenance. Disney has not said what work this particular closure covers.
The official height requirement is 40 in (102 cm) or taller, so this was never a toddler ride. For families with older children who wanted it on a November visit, there is no locked return date yet.
