Walt Disney World opened The Magic of Disney Animation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida on 14 September 2026. It’s in Animation Courtyard, in a building modelled on the Roy E. Disney Animation Building in Burbank, California. It isn’t a ride. Inside is a set of separate indoor experiences, each in its own room.
Drawn to Wonderland
For families with babies and toddlers, the biggest addition is Drawn to Wonderland, an indoor playground based on Mary Blair’s concept art for Disney’s Alice in Wonderland. It’s for children from six months to five years and is split into two sides, one for babies from six to 23 months and one for children aged two to five.
The areas are themed to the Mad Tea Party, the Mad Hatter’s house, the Queen of Hearts’ rose garden and the Cheshire Cat’s Tulgey Wood. There are steps to climb, windows to peer through and a long tea table with spinning teacups that set off sounds and music. Children have to be supervised throughout, and there are padded benches for the adults. It gives younger children somewhere to play indoors, out of the Florida sun and the afternoon storms.
Character meets and a drawing class with Olaf
Off the Page! puts character meets in rooms themed to the stages of making an animated film. Disney names these as some of the characters visitors may meet: Mulan in Story, Rapunzel in Layout, Chip ‘n’ Dale in Hand-Drawn Animation, Donald and Daisy in Computer Animation, Goofy in Lighting and Stitch in Effects.
Olaf Draws! is a sit-down drawing class. A moving Olaf figure sits at an animator’s desk while recorded Disney Animation artists show the room how to sketch a character. Josh Gad voices Olaf, as he does in the films.
A short film and the rest of the building
The Once Upon a Studio Theater shows Once Upon a Studio, the 2023 Disney Animation short in which characters from the studio’s films step out of the pictures on its walls. Disney says all 65 Walt Disney Animation Studios feature films are represented somewhere in the building, including artwork from the studio’s next film, Hexed.
