Disney Cruise Line has revealed what will be on board the Disney Believe, its next new ship, and opened bookings for its first season. The Believe sets off on its maiden voyage from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on 18 December 2027, and will sail four- and five-night cruises from there to the Bahamas and the Caribbean until May 2028.

The Believe is the last of Disney’s four Wish-class ships, the same design as the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny. Its first cruise is five nights in the Bahamas, calling at Nassau and at Disney’s two private island stops, Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. The first season has 29 sailings, including Western Caribbean cruises to Cozumel in Mexico.

For families combining a cruise with Walt Disney World, Port Everglades is about 200 miles (320 km) south of the resort by road. Port Canaveral, where many Disney cruises from Florida leave, is about 60 miles (100 km) away.

Shows, restaurants and bars

Much of what’s new is based on Disney’s animated films. The Walt Disney Theatre will stage Disney Encanto, the first stage version of the film, along with Tangled: The Musical, which was first staged on the Disney Magic and has a new set for the Believe. Disney Seas the Adventure, the show already running on the other Wish-class ships, completes the line-up.

On Disney cruises families move between the main restaurants on different nights. On the Believe one of them is new. Oaken’s Table: A Frozen Family Feast is a dinner with Oaken and his family, songs from the Frozen films and visits from Anna and Kristoff. The other two, 1923 and Worlds of Marvel, are already on the Wish-class ships.

The central atrium, the Grand Hall, is themed on Moana. Gazelle, a space based on Zootopia, has family activities by day and adults-only entertainment at night, and Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde appear there in a new family show, the first time they’ve been on a Disney ship. Inside Out: Joyful Sweets returns with characters from Inside Out 2 and nearly 20 flavours of gelato and ice cream. The bars include a Snow White lounge called Wishing Well, a Little Mermaid piano lounge called Sea Notes, an observatory-themed pub called Skygazers and the Haunted Mansion Parlor, and there are two new coffee bars.

Staterooms

Disney says 70% of the staterooms have a verandah and more than 450 have connecting doors to a neighbouring room. Most have Disney’s split bathroom, with the toilet and the shower in separate rooms. The artwork in standard rooms is based on films such as Moana, Coco and Inside Out. The largest suite, the two-storey Believe Tower Suite in the front funnel, sleeps eight and is themed on Magic Kingdom.
